Condition Assessor – Construction and Maintenance

IPA are looking for a Condition Assessor who has experience within the Building & Construction Industry to assist our client in Townsville.

This position would suit someone with a construction related trade qualification and current WH&S General Safety Induction Card. The role will involve travel across QLD and will offer full time hours working on a labour hire basis with IPA. This is a contract position available for a qualified candidate to start immediately with an initial 3 month contract (extension may be possible). The pay rate will be discussed at interview stage and be relevant to someone with solid supervisory skills and trade experience.

Some of the key responsibilities will include:

  • Produce high quality tender and quotation documentation for building projects and prepare accurate and timely estimates, quotations and project trade packages; including material lists and construction programs.

  • Provide a level of supervisory services in respect to the delivery of construction, maintenance and upgrade work, including assisting in the planning and delivery of projects through the efficient supervision and development of office staff, field staff and subcontractors.

  • Coordinate and undertake the delivery of a high-quality condition assessment services for clients, including inspections/surveys of building elements and construction materials including collecting samples of suspected asbestos containing materials for laboratory testing.

  • Undertake inspection services including tenancy management services and maintenance referrals on behalf of our client.

  • Maintain a healthy and safe work environment, ensuring compliance with current human resource practices and principles, including employment equity, anti-discrimination and workplace health and safety.

  • Ensure application of safety management system (SMS) including:

    o Participate in and facilitate WHS audits under the direction of the Regional WHS Adviser;

    o Undertake on-site WHS inspections including plant and equipment checks;

    o Ensure all job documentation includes safework method statement or other risk assessment documentation as appropriate; and

    o Promote and ensure a healthy and safe work environment through own practices and education and awareness raising of staff and contractors

    The successful candidate will have good computer skills as well as superior communication and supervisory skills. A current drivers license is essential.
