Counsellor

IPA are looking for a passionate and experienced Counsellor for our Rockhampton client.

Our clients objectives are to promote the health and wellbeing of women, men, and youth through trauma-informed counselling, with a priority on women at risk of and/or recovering from gender-based violence.

Deliver trauma-informed counselling and support to individuals aged 12 years and over impacted by sexual violence.

About the role:

The position on offer is a Full time hours role working on a 9 day negotiable fortnight. The successful applicant will be employed initially on a two year contract.

An immediate start is available.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide timely and quality risk assessment, information, and support.
  • Offer client-centered, strength-based health and wellbeing counselling to women.
  • Deliver trauma-informed counselling to address the emotional and physical impact of sexual violence.
  • Prepare, facilitate, and evaluate psycho-educational programs linked to health and wellbeing.
  • Provide health promotion/information strategies and presentations to enhance awareness about gender-based violence.
  • Engage in integrated community responses to family, domestic, and sexual violence.
  • Liaise effectively with government and non-government service providers for referrals and networking.
  • Provide empowerment-based advocacy services to clients.
  • Undertake case monitoring and review.
  • Collaborate with relevant government and community organizations for health promotion campaigns.

Skills/Competencies/Person Description:

  • Relevant degree Or Diploma (Social Work or Psychology) with demonstrated experience working as a counsellor.

  • Current C class driver’s licence.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance (Positive Notice Blue Card and satisfactory Australian Federal Police check).
