Human Resource Specialist

Working for one of Cairns leading not for profit environmental management organisations, and based in the heart of Cairns (with 3 other offices around FNQ), our client plays a pivotal role in helping to shape, manage and protect the landscapes of the Wet Tropics region.

With a vision to maintain a thriving & sustainable Wet Tropics, they work collaboratively with local community groups, other resource management organisations & government stakeholders to lead the development of pro-active and inclusive solutions in our region. They are instrumental in leading the way in managing some of the many challenges that face our landscapes and biodiversity and, as such are vital in leading the race against the effects of climate change in FNQ.

Currently, they have a 12 month parental leave contract for an enthusiastic and motivated Human Resource Specialist to lead their growing team of staff to deliver their services across the region. Reporting to the Corporate Support Leader and providing specialist advice to their leadership team you will be responsible for:

  • Recruitment and on-boarding processes
  • Managing staff performance
  • Managing Quality and WH&S & Risk compliance – Chair of Health & Wellbeing committee
  • Reviewing and Implementing HR policies and procedures and working together with the leadership team to formulate an effective HR Strategic Plan
  • Providing ongoing advice to management and the Board and keeping up to date with latest HR legislation
  • Promoting teamwork and developing and maintaining positive work relations a supportive organisation culture.
  • Experience working with enterprise agreements is essential.

    Ideally you will have an understanding of the governance and compliance aspects related to federally funded organisations.
