Payroll Officer

Our client is a leading private education institution committed to providing high-quality education and fostering a nurturing environment for their students. They are currently seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to join their team on a fixed term basis until January 2025.

As a Payroll Officer you will play a crucial role in the day-to-day processing of all aspects of the payroll function and administration of Workcover claims.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately preparing and processing fortnightly payroll in a timely manner, including leave accruals;
  • Ensure all time and attendance data, timesheets, leave forms and other relevant payroll documentation are appropriately completed, verified and approved;
  • Attending to employee payroll related enquiries and queries;
  • Administer Superannuation, PAYG withholding tax, Single Touch Payroll and payroll deduction payments;
  • Calculation of employment termination payments;
  • Process pay increases, calculation of backpays and overpayment recovery;
  • Administer and balance end of financial year payroll;
  • Assist external auditors with year-end audit;
  • Prepare the annual Workcover Declaration of Wages;
  • Prepare letters of offer and provide employment related documentation and information to successful applicants;
  • Responsible for HR administration functions;
Qualifications:
  • 2 years’ experience as a Payroll Officer, working for medium to large size organisation.
  • Knowledge of payroll systems, preferably Sage Micropay and TimeTarget
  • Strong understanding of payroll laws and regulations.
  • Attention to detail and excellent numerical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and other relevant software.
  • Highly organized and able to meet deadlines.
